Since last weekend when I started reading One Day, I hadn’t made much progress with it–until today, that is. Thanksgiving week is simply too busy for doing much reading. But the weekend after Thanksgiving is perfect for snuggling under a blanket with a book while all the crazies do their shopping.
Sorry, crazies. I don’t mean that in a bad way. In fact, although I avoided shopping on Black Friday, I did get my butt out there today. And to Toys R Us, of all places! But it wasn’t that bad, crazywise.
Anywho, reading…. Today while Jax & Rooney napped next to me in bed and my husband napped on the couch, I took advantage of a silent house & read a good chunk of One Day. Later, after dinner, I took a long hot bubble bath and read a bit more. And now I’m finally at that point where I can’t wait to pick it back up again. As soon as I’m finished this post I’m headed to my second favorite reading spot–bed–and curling up with my Kindle.
I love that feeling of plotting when I can squeeze in a few pages of a novel. That is a clear indicator that I’m really enjoying it. I’ve been known to even read a page at a red light. Or while on the phone, when it’s a really good book & a boring phone call.
One Day is an easy, lighthearted read (so far). Here’s the book description, from Amazon:
It’s 1988 and Dexter Mayhew and Emma Morley have only just met. But after only one day together, they cannot stop thinking about one another. Over twenty years, snapshots of that relationship are revealed on the same day—July 15th—of each year. Dex and Em face squabbles and fights, hopes and missed opportunities, laughter and tears. And as the true meaning of this one crucial day is revealed, they must come to grips with the nature of love and life itself.
In other book-related news, I struggled today to find a book about dinosaurs for Jax. He’s only 2, so I wanted something along the lines of an animal encyclopedia for toddlers, only with dinosaurs. I didn’t think it’d be difficult to find such a book, yet it was. I’ll keep looking, but if you know of one, steer me in the right direction, will ya?

I’ll have to look for this book. It sounds like one I would enjoy! I haven’t found a good book to just dive into in a while. It reminds me of that movie where the two people meet every year I believe in Paris. Great suggestion. My daughter used to read How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight. That was a book on repeat for a while. Have you tried this?
