I’m so looking forward to Black Friday, but not for the reasons you probably think: leftovers & shopping. I’m not shopping on Black Friday this year, at least not in the stores. I may do a bit online, but only if I hear about a sale that can’t be passed up. And as for the leftovers, I’m not sure I’ll have any, since I’m not cooking this year! Hopefully my parents will hook us up with a few containers of goodies, but we’ll see. Note to self: Return some of mom’s food storage containers!
This Black Friday, I’m pushing working momma guilt aside and sending Jax to daycare for 5 or 6 hours so that I can enjoy some (super rare) time alone in the house. And with that alone time, I’m going to…wait for it…clean! I know, that was probably a big letdown, huh?
Let me redeem myself then.
I’m going to decorate the whole house for Christmas! (After I clean, of course.)
And then I’m going to bake cookies. Maybe even from scratch! And maybe I’ll have a glass of wine while I’m doing all of this! And if I have enough time left over before daycare pickup at 3, maybe I’ll even take a bubble bath and read some of my book!
Jax will come home to a decorated house, complete with a twinkling tree and sparkling floors, a plate of warm cookies, and a totally relaxed (but probably exhausted) momma!
Except for the cleaning bit, doesn’t that sound like a fantastic day?
What are your plans today?

Good for you!! I am proud that you are ignoring that whole guilt thing and doing something for you. Enjoy your day and don’t spend the whole day cleaning . . . do a little something for yourself as well.

Enjoy your day! I can’t wait to see the house and save me a cookie! It will be awesome for Jax to come home to. I decided to do a little on-line shopping and then give myself a much needed spa day. I am over 50 (barely) and have never treated myself to a massage. So today I get my first and a manicure/pedicure to boot!
Happy Black Friday!
Report back, Mom! I want to know how you liked the massage!
I’ll tell you what I won’t be doing…eating the leftover turkey my mother in law sent home with us.
I’d love a day to myself…so I’m jealous of you.
If i did have a day to myself, it would probably involve drinking wine, eating cheese and wearing pj’s.

You so deserve a day to yourself. With wine, pjs, and cheese.
