Weekend Reading #BlogHop: Starting a New Book
6 Nov
Happy Sunday! It’s time for the Weekend Reading bloghop. I hope you will link up! I’m worried about the future of this bloghop if there aren’t more than 2-3 participants. Sigh.
Anyway, here is what you do: The link is open Sunday morning until late Monday night. Link up your blog post (old or new) about whatever it is that you’re reading, or your kiddo is reading, or how you’re not reading, or where you like to read, or what are your favorite things to read…. Whatever you want that has anything to do with reading! See that “Click here to enter” link way down below? Click it & follow the instructions. It’s easy. Then, click “get the code” down below & copy and paste it into your post so that the list of bloggers linking up will also show up on your blog, meaning readers can “hop” from your blog to the next one on the list without having to come back here. Note: If you use WordPress.com, you will not be able to do this last step. Sorry, folks.
If you want to get all fancy and stuff, you can copy & paste the code below the cute little James & Jax Weekend Reading blog button into your post so that it will appear on your post.

I’m not sure why, but starting a new book fills me with a mixture of anxiety and excitement. If I’ve spent money on the book, I’d say the mix is about 60% anxiety (that I will hate the book and have wasted my money) and 40% excitement (to begin a brand new book and find out what’s inside).
This week, I started to read Sea Change by Jeremy Page. Like with Theodora: Actress, Empress, Whore, I was not sold on this book upon first starting it. For starters, the plot begins with the tragic death of the protagonist’s 4-year-old daughter. Ouch. That kind of thing is extremely difficult for me to read. When I read that part of the book, I was moments from my bedtime. So of course I assumed I’d have nightmares. I almost stopped reading the book then & there. But I continued because I’m not a quitter before I give a book a fair shot. Thank goodness the author narrated the event so well that I didn’t have even a blip of a nightmare.
So you probably noticed I’m taking a break–already–from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But I promise to get back to it after Sea Change. And I’ll certainly be writing here about my opinions on both books. Stay tuned!

Here’s my post for this week…

How do you find time to read. I get a page or two in and then am so tired…it makes me feel so old to fall asleep reading so quickly!

I added Theodora to my books to read list. This list is never ending and your blog hop isn’t helping! Ok, I guess that is a good thing ;-)
Um, ever since I have become a Mom I can’t read things where bad things happen to kids. Too many nightmares! I am impressed that it didn’t’ give you any

I know! My to read list is growing every single week, thanks to you guys! I’ll never catch up and read even half the books on there already! Yikes. But Christmas is coming, and books make great gifts.
