Daycare Update: A Great Week!
30 Apr
What a week–in a good way! To my amazement, I dropped off Jax at daycare on Monday morning and nary a tear was shed. Sure, he made this awful twisted face like he was about to start bawling the second I walked away, but then he never did! My husband dropped him off on Tuesday and said it was an easy drop-off. Wednesday, I figured the odds of a third day straight with no tears were against me. Yet the kiddo pulled through and even seemed happy to go to “school.” His Daddy dropped him off again on Thursday. I got a text around 10 that morning from my husband that said: “Jax was happy when I dropped him off because they were outside.” Friday, Jax grabbed his shoes and Phillies hoodie and practically begged to go to daycare. I dropped him off 10 minutes earlier than usual and he didn’t even hug me goodbye before he ran off to be with his friends! Can you even believe that?! At 20 months, he’s already too cool to kiss his mommy in front of his friends!
I’m beyond thrilled with how quickly Jax decided daycare is alright. The first week was definitely brutal, as to be expected. The second and third weeks showed improvement, but he still cried a bit here & there nnd I still felt twangs of guilt. But this fourth week has actually been pleasant! Several of the staff there have stopped me in the hall this week just to tell me that Jax smiles at them all day. One even mentioned that Jax “flirts” with her.
So, yeah, things are going well. Hooray!

Ooooh so glad to hear this!!! I am thrilled that it worked out so well and so quickly. It is definitely so hard to see them sad, but what a great experience for you to remember especially as you go through other milestones where you think that it will never get better. LOL! It usually does just in their own time…ahhhh kids! So cute that he flirts with the teachers too…
